Detailed Itinerary
Arrival Day
Arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport, pick up and transferred to Boma Masai Garden at Bomang'ombe 18.3 km from the Airport. For overnight, dinner and breakfast.
Drive to Londoros Gate & Trek to Mti Mkubwa
Wake up early and have breakfast, then briefing from your guide. Drive from Bomang'ombe to Londoros Park Gate (1.5 hours). From here a forest track requiring a 4WD vehicle leads to Lemosho Glades. Walk along a wonderful forest trail to Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree) campsite.

Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp
The hiking gradually steepens and enters the giant heather moorland zone, then crosses the Shira Ridge at 3,600m to drop gently down to Shira 1 Camp located by the stream on the Shira Plateau.

Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp
A gentle walk across the plateau leads to Shira 2 Camp on moorland meadows by a stream. A variety of walks is available on the plateau, making this an excellent acclimatization day.

Shira 2 Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp
The moorland ends and rocky path begins among outcrops to Lava Tower (optional if not taking Western Breach) where there are good campsites, then continue to Barranco Camp.

Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
After breakfast, leave Barranco and climb up the Barranco Wall, which ends at the foot of the Heim Glacier. Pass along to Karanga Valley.

Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Continue to Barafu Camp located at 4,550m. Make camp, rest, enjoy dinner and overnight. This is a very good position to see the two peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi.

Summit Day - Barafu to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
Wake up very early around midnight, have light tea with biscuits, and start trekking to the summit. Reach Uhuru Peak at 5,895m after about 8 hours. Spend time at the summit celebrating your achievement, then descend to Mweka Camp.

Descent to Mweka Gate
This is the last day. After breakfast, walk down to the gate through forest walkways until Mweka Gate. Meet your transfer driver guide waiting for you and drive back to the Hotel at Boma Masai Garden.
